BIO-CLUB ACTIVITIES :

ABOUT THE CLUB

The Bio-club is a student organization for students in the Life Science departments of our college. It represents the interests of Biology students. On the lighter side the Bio- club hosts plays, songs and fun events for the enjoyment of students and faculty. Most importantly, the Bio-club exists for biologists to meet peers with similar interests and hopefully make the undergraduate experience more pleasant.

OBJECTIVES

  • Promote interaction between faculty and students.
  • Engage in social functions.
  • Provide service to the College.
  • Keep members informed of current trends in science.
  • To advance biological research and education for the good of science and welfare of society.
  • Stimulating new fields of activity and research.

The aim of the organization is the care and the expansion of student networks thereby contributing to the quality development of the college through this “life science – cluster”. To be a catalyst for identification and strengthening of the internal synergies is how the Bio-club understands its role.

Activities 2022-2023

  • On account of International Women’s Day, the BioClub organized a program “SWAYAMSIDDA” to commemorate international women’s Day 17-03-2023 for BSC Iyr students. A regional movie based on aspiring women entrepreneur “MISS INDIA” was shown.

  • The BioClub Students organizing committee members were felicitated during the “INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2022-23” by the Principal & Vice-Principal of the college on 2/9/2022. All the members of BioClub took an oath. Food stalls & game stalls were setup by the students, which was inaugurated by the principal.

  • BioClub conducted a “CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM 2021” for all B.SC life sciences III yr students on 4/12/21. The speaker of the day was Mr. J.V. Chandra Mohan Garu from Erudite coaching center. The objective of this program is to provide guidance to the students for their higher education.

  • The Department of Microbiology has celebrated “WORLD AIDS DAY-ENDING THE HIV-EQUITABLE ACCESS, EVERYONE VOICE” on 1/12/2021 to create awareness among the people, how to avoid the spread and transmission of HIV.

  • The Department of Botany demonstrated the making of “SELF DEFENSE PEPPER SPRAY” on 20/3/2021. It is a home-made pepper spray and emphasized the use of it for self-defense.

On account of International Women’s Day the Bioclub organized a program for BSC Iyr students. The program started with a talk about the most successful Indian women entrepreneurs by students organizing committee, Bioclub.A regional movie based on aspiring women entrepreneur “MISS INDIA” was shown.

2 Investiture ceremony – 2022-23 2/9/2022

The Bioclub Students organizing committee members were felicitated by the Principal & Vice-Principal of the college. All the members of Bioclub took an Oath. Quiz competitions and educational puzzles were conducted for the students and prizes were distributed. Food stalls & game stalls were setup by the students, which was inaugurated by the Principal. 3 QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS 21/04/2022

The Department of Chemistry conducted a Bio-Club program to demonstrate Quantitative Analysis practicals by advanced learners of B.SC IIIrd Year Students to B.SC Ist Year Students. They demonstrated the use of apparatus, titration procedure, theory of indicators, types of titrations etc.

The Department of Botany conducted a Bio-Club program on Chyavanprash preparation. The students demonstrated the homemade preparation of Chyavanprash and distributed to the faculty.
