CONSUMER CLUB – “CAVEAT EMPTOR”

ABOUT THE CLUB

The consumer club was formed by the students of B.Com and M.Com on 29th October 2014. This club was inaguarated by the Commissioner of Civil Supplies Mr. Parthasarathy, IAS. TV Anchor Ms. Suma, Consumer activits Mr and Mrs. Rajyam Ganeshan graced the occasion. The objective of the club is to impart consumer education to students through experiential learning and enable them to become conscious and responsible citizens.

CONSUMER AWARENESS PROGRAMME

OBJECTIVES:

Consumer awareness programme was conducted by Petroleum Conservation Research Association (HP Madhu Gas Secunderabad) on Safety and Precautions while using LPG Cylinders on 08th February 2019. The speaker for the day was Mrs. Rajyam Ganesham

SEMINAR ON “YOUR ASSURANCE ON PURE SILK”

A seminar on “YOUR ASSURANCE ON PURE SILK” was conducted by SILKMARK ORGANIZATION OF INDIA” on 9th November, 2016.

The speaker for the day was Mr. Chandan Kumar, member of Silk Mark Organisation of India gave live demonstration on how to identify the hallmark of purity of silk on different varieties of silk fabrics. He also showed simple DIY test on different types of silk fabrics to check the purity of silk and Ms. Rajam Ganeshan explained the precautions to be taken to safe guard and protect the silk fabrics from damages and for lasting long time.

EXHIBITION ON ADULTERATION IN FOODS

Consumer Club in collaboration with Consumer Care Centre has conducted an exhibition on “SAFE AND HEALTHY FOOD”— COMBATING ADULTERATION on the 17th and 18th of December 2015, to commemorate “The National Consumer Day celebrations”.

Students from nearby schools and colleges visited the exhibition.

Dr.Rajat Kumar IAS, Commissioner of Civil Supplies, Govt. of Telangana was the Chief Guest. Dr.Amarender Reddy, Director, Food Safety and Standards Act, Institute of Preventive Medicine was the Guest of Honour. Mrs. Rajam Ganeshan, Secretary, Consumer Care Center and Mr. Ganeshan also graced the occasion.

A magazine “VINIYOGA TARANGINI” showcasing the exhibition was published by the Office of the Commissioner of Civil Supplies, Government of Telangana.

Exhibition on Adulteration in Foods

AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON “HALLMARKING OF GOLD JEWELLERY” BY BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS

The Club has conducted an awareness programme on “HALLMARKING OF GOLD JEWELLERY” on 27th November, 2015 by Bureau of Indian Standards, Hyderabad.

Mr. Ramakrishna Rao, Retd Director,BIS,Hyderabad was the Speaker for the day. He focused mainly on how and where hallmarking is done and the five essential points to be remembered while purchasing gold ornaments like BIS standard Mark, Purity- fitness grade, Hallmarking centre Mark, Year of Marking & Jeweller’s identification Mark. It was a very informative and an interactive session.
