The Department of Commerce is one of the prestigious departments of the College, established in 1974 and has been scaling heights ever since. The Department is enriched under the Head-ship of Dr. Rajshree.R, Vice-Principal including 18 well qualified and experienced faculty members. The department not only concentrates on the academic excellence of its students but also nurtures their co-curricular activities.

The department has carved a niche for itself in terms of maintaining high standards. This is reflected in the consistently good academic results with large percentages of first classes in all faculties, year after year. The rank holders of the department have won many accolades including the prestigious Osmania University Gold medals and LN Gupta Memorial Gold Medals. The students have added to its prestige by securing university ranks and high level placements. We give importance for Value education, Personality Development and career guidance which are required for the holistic development of the students.

The Department offers value added Certificate Courses aimed to complement academic achievements with practical skills and also to enhance the employability of students. It is mandatory for every student to undertake certificate courses through SWAYAM and also other certificate courses conducted by the Department. The Department is continuously engaged to develop the overall personality of the students by conducting a number of co-curricular activities like workshops, PowerPoint presentations, debate and speech competition, group discussions, essay and report writing competition. Lecture method is supplemented by seminars, discussions, Quiz Competitions, projects, models, charts, institutional interaction, role plays and debates. Faculty members are encouraged to participate in seminars, workshops and conferences. The Department has the credit of organizing a number of guest lectures, workshops, conferences and Seminars at State and National levels. Faculty is motivated to publish research articles in National and International journals with high impact factor.

Department of Commerce has initiated two clubs – Entrepreneur club and consumer club. The motto of these clubs is to expose the students to meet the practical challenges in the current business scenario and also to develop leadership qualities and event management skills among the students. In Entrepreneur Club, students are engaged to think creatively and develop right mindset to meet the challenges of the globalized business environment, interpersonal relations and outreach programmes. The motto of this club is “Creativity for a Cause” where half the proceeds of the club are donated to an orphanage each year.

Under Consumer club, “The National Consumer Day celebrations” are conducted by the Department to emphasis awareness in the students on the theoretical and practical aspects of consumer education, rights of the consumer by various programs, exhibits and publishing booklets. The Department has also initiated Commerce Lab for the students to have practical exposure towards all possible topics in their curriculum. It is equipped with books, Journals, Magazines, CD’s and practical material which are useful to students.

  • Ms.Sushma sadanand and Ms.Sajida khtoon won 3rd best paper award for the paper on “Customers Perception towards E-wallet”- An empirical study presented on 23rd &24th December 2022 at Indian Institute of Management and Commerce Hyderabad.
  • Ms. Dasari Kavitha received a Certificate of Achievement for Outstanding Commitment, Dedication and Tireless Support by Research Foundation of India on 22/05/2021.
  • Ms. Suguna Kolipakam received a 3rd best paper presentation by Indian Institute of Management and Commerce for a paper entitled UB 2021-22 towards Sustainable Development in Education in Virtual National Conference on 22/05/2021.

Student Achievements

K.Chandrika and R.Maria Goldina have Participated in the Innovation Expo organized by IIMC,Khairathbad,Hyderabad and won 3rd Prize on 19/11/2022 for their best idea on”Manure out of Cow Dung.

Ms.Anchenor Mounika has been awarded a Gold medal by Exhibition society,Hyderabad. For securing highest marks i.e 9.87 CGPA in B.com Final year Tax Procedures.

Annapurna,Lubna,Vaishnavi and Chandrika have participated in Poster Presentation held at “Loyola College”on 17/01/2023 & 18/01/2023 and won 2nd Prize in the event of “FOSTERING CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION”.

Y. Shravani from B.com 2nd Year Generals has participated in the 2nd National Sumpshot Championship at Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar reddy Indore Stadium Yousufguda, Hyderabad on 18/12/2022 and 19/12/2022.
She took part in the event SWIPE BOXING (senior)cand achieved 1st Place and awarded a Gold medal.

Annapurna and Lubna from BBA II Year have participated in the event of “Paryalochanam and Vignyapanam” at Wesley Degree College and won 1st Prize in it.

Annapurna,Chandrika,Maria and lubna from BBA IInd year have participated in “Business simulation” Competition and stood in 5th position from Telangana state. This Competition was conducted by AIMA,Delhi.

Department organized one day FDP on 27th February 2019 on the Theme “Companies Act 2013 and GST” in Collaboration with Department of Commerce, O.U and ICSI, Hyderabad Chapter. RESULT was out of total study population (300), among students from different colleges 1.3% (4 People) had OCD and 9% (27 people) had sub- threshold
