About:

The department of History is one of the oldest department of the college started in the year 1979. At present it is headed by Ms. T. Sri Laxmi with 2 years of teaching experience in this college. and then followed by MS. Tanushree Sharma

History aims at helping students to understand the present and past social, political, religious and economic conditions of the people. The language facilitates students to comprehend historical processes. The college introduced History as one of the main subject .The syllabus of the degree course is strictly according to UGC.

Periodically, academic activities like seminars, heritage walks, tours and trips to museums and historical sites are organized by the college to aid students to reflect on the nature of interaction between the past and the present.

Ms. T. Sri Laxmi has attended many National Webinars and Online Quizzes, with the topic mainly about Indian History and culture, public health, Digital communication, Pandemic and Historical dimensions and Dalit movement in Hyderabad.

Students Achievements

Meghana and T. Nikitha B.A 2nd year, participated in Webinar (Media Narrative during Covid – 19 Pandemic).
Raksha Reddy, B.A 1st year, Priya Pandey, B.A 1st year, Tanushree Sharma, B.A 2nd year attended the Online Quiz Competition.

Poster Presentation

Haritha and Ms. Simi Kaur from B.A, participated in Social Sciences Club Poster Presentation competition.
Departments of history and public administration had conducted Poster presentation competition on fundamental rights on 31st January 2020.

National Webinar

The Department conducted a National Webinar on IMPLICATIONS OF COVID-19: REMAGINING SOCIETY along with Sociology, Political Science and Public Administration on 6th June 2020

Interdisciplinary Activities

As a part of Interdisciplinary Activity a documentary on French Revolution was organized on 4th Feb 2020.

Filed Trip

The students of B.A first, second and final years were taken on a Field Trip to Chowmallah Palace and Salarjung Museum on 21st Sep 2019.

Understanding the meaning, nature and scope of History , relation with other social sciences, impact of geographical settings and others
