The department of History is one of the oldest department of the college started in the year 1979. At present it is headed by Ms. T. Sri Laxmi with 2 years of teaching experience in this college. and then followed by MS. Tanushree Sharma

History aims at helping students to understand the present and past social, political, religious and economic conditions of the people. The language facilitates students to comprehend historical processes. The college introduced History as one of the main subject .The syllabus of the degree course is strictly according to UGC.

Periodically, academic activities like seminars, heritage walks, tours and trips to museums and historical sites are organized by the college to aid students to reflect on the nature of interaction between the past and the present.

  • As a part of Interdisciplinary Activity a documentary on French Revolution was organized on 4th Feb 2020.

  • The students of B.A first, second and final years were taken on a Field Trip to Chowmallah Palace and Salarjung Museum on 21st Sep 2019.

  • Understanding the meaning, nature and scope of History , relation with other social sciences, impact of geographical settings and others
  • Studying about Indus valley civilization followed by Arya invasion
  • Emerging of Mahajanapada and new religious movements
  • Understanding the Mauryan and Gupta period

Semester II : History of India from 700 – 1526 CE

  • Basic understanding of Local self Government under Cholas and rule of other South Indian Dynasties
  • Entry of Arabs into India and the transformation of Indian society under Delhi Sultans
  • Develop idea of composite culture through Bhakti and Sufi Movements
  • Idea of South Indian Culture under Kakatiyas
