Mathematics being a core subject for many courses ,the college established the department in 1986 with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. To keep up with changing times and the increasing demand for Mathematics several new combinations were introduced. The Department now offers MPCs,MSCs, MECs & MPC.

In 2012, the college introduced M.Sc Mathematics.

The college introduced MSDs in 2021.

The department is committed to providing quality education in the field of Mathematics and works towards enhancing the interest of the subject among the students.

The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1986 and offered B.Sc with Maths, Physics and Chemistry as a combination. Mathematics being a core subject for many courses and to keep in pace with changing times, the department now offers Mathematics with other combinations like Computer Science, Statistics and Electronics. The department is committed to providing quality education in the field of Mathematics. It works towards enhancing the interest of the subject among the students by arranging extension lectures, seminars, celebrating National Mathematics Day, organizing Mathematical Exhibitions, conducting competitions like Sudoku etc. The faculty strive to upgrade themselves constantly through attending seminars / conferences /paper presentations etc

As part of the annual College fest NAVARANG 2K23,Mathletics -the Math Club organized SUDOKU COMPETITION on 09.06.23 to explore their ability to solve Sudoku and also have fun at the academic and cultural fest.

2021-22 :

As part of the annual College fest NAVARANG 2K21,Mathletics -the Math Club organized an online quiz on Aptitude and reasoning aptly titled MATH MANIA.

2019-20 :

During the pandemic ,Mathletics-the Math club organized EUREKA- A NATIONAL LEVEL TEST ON APTITUDE AND REASONING.

Annual Sudoku Competition is conducted by the Math club “Mathletics” every year for interested staff and UG students.

PI DAY: The department celebrated PI Day on March 14, 2021 (3.14-the numerical value of Pi) by screening the movie Super 30 to both UG and PG students.

  • The students and staff visited “ Helping Hands Humanity”-an orphanage in west Maredpally . Students spent time with the children at the orphanage and interacted with them regarding their interest levels towards maths on 23.12.21.Stationary and bedding items were also distributed
  • Students of Bsc Final year handled mathematics classes of 6-8 for one week (21.3.22-26.3.22) at Burgula Ramakrishna Rao Girls high school, Barkathpura ,Hyderabad

SITEMaP CLUB(Statistics , IT, Electronics, Mathematics and Physics) focuses on organizing programs revolving around latest research in Physical sciences. Here the students learn about latest developments in the computing and electronics world, conduct surveys and also engage in puzzles and number games. The club hosts guest lectures, workshops, poster presentations and exhibitions. It encourages students to participate in group activities that aim to teach and help students understand the seemingly incomprehensible electronic gadgets in the world today.

On 20.09.22 ,SITEMaP-THE PHYSICAL SCIENCES club organized SITEMaP Fest and Investiture Ceremony. Mathletics-the Mathematics Club organized several fun math games and puzzles.

SITEMaP –The Physical Sciences Club organised a National webinar on “EMERGING TRENDS OF DATA SCIENCE AND ITS APPLICATIONS” by Principal Scientist.Dr.M.BalaKrishnan ,ICAR,NAARM,Hyderabad on 23rd May 2020 .The webinar was streamed Live on Youtube due to the ongoing pandemic.

  • Differentiate between ordinary and partial differential equations
  • Apply the concept of partial differential equations to engineering, physics and biological scenarios
  • Identify composite ,implicit and embedded functions
  • Determine maximum and minimum values of a function
  • Define of curvature, radius of curvature and center of curvature
  • Concept of Evolutes with examples and determination of Envelopes
  • Derive the formulas to find the lengths of curves and the area of surface generated when a curve is rotated about the axis
  • Develop formulas to find the volume obtained by a curve revolving about either axis and about any line.
