About:

Kasturba Gandhi Degree & PG College for women instituted the Department of Political Science in 1973, the year of its own establishment. The department initially offered one course at the undergraduate level- Economics, Political Science & Public Administration, as EPP for convenience. An additional combination – History, Political Science and Modern Language, HPL was introduced in 1979 and an elective paper International Relations was introduced in the same year. Curriculum revised for B.A Ist year in 2016-2017: Choice Based Credit System was introduced (CBCS). In 2018-2019 Academic year new combination was introduced: HPP (History, Political Science and Public Administration)

Ms.Thejaswini , Head Department Of Political Science, has been invited as resource person by Hindi Mahavidyalaya college to speak on the topic “ India’ s Foreign Policy under Prime Minister Modi” on 4/11/2022

Ms. Thejaswini has been awarded doctorate degree from the Department of Political Science Osmania University on the topic “ A STUDY ON THE CHANGING PERSPECTIVES OF INDO-ISRAEL RELATIONS IN THE POST COLD WAR PERIOD ” In December 2022.

Ms. Thejaswani Ambrose attended one day ” National Workshop on Relevance of Social Sciences in the Age of Technology” organized by St.Francis College for Women, Begumpet.
Ms. Thejaswini Ambrose published an article in Deccan Chronicle paper titled “Make the Switch to Green Infra” on 2nd March 2020.
Ms. Thejaswani presented a paper titled “Initiatives Of Border Management: Safeguard To India’s National Security” in the National Seminar organized by Sarojini Naidu Vanitha Maha Vidyalaya College,Exhibition Grounds, Nampally, Hyderabad in January 2018.

Ms. Thejaswini Ambrose was been selected by the Department of Political Science, Osmania University to present her views on 70 years of India’s Independence and Nizam’s contribution to Hyderabad by BBC RADIO, UK on 2nd August 2017.
Ms. Thejaswini Ambrose presented a Paper titled “Political Science – A Practical aspect to life” in the International Conference Organized by the Department of Education in July 2017.

Ms. Thejaswini Ambrose presented papers in two International Conferences and three National Seminars Prior to 2018.

Ms.K.Himabindhu of B.A III YEAR got selected for the District level Youth parliament in Secunderabad PG College, Osmania University held on 24/02/2019.
Ms.Tejaswini Chakraborthy of B.A II Year got gold medal from Akhil Bharatiya Sanskritik Sanghatan (AVSS) in the all India Competition held in Dubai, Nov 2018.

Kaviya Kannan of B.A I Year presented a paper on “ The State of EU” in BITSMUN CHRONICLE BLOG ( BITS PILANI HYDERABAD CAMPUS) online article got posted on February 2020.
Kaviya Kannan of B.A I Year presented a paper on “ Climate Emergency- Can companies around the globe achieve a Carbon-Neutral future?” in SUPREMO AMICUS- An online peer reviewed International Journal on Law.
The students of BA III Year Ms. J. Sonali and Ms.B. Niharika presented a paper on “ Food Security in India” in the National seminar organized by Sarojini Naidu Vanitha Mahavidyalaya, Exhibition grounds, Nampally, Hyderabad.

The Departments of History, Sociology, Political Science & Public Administration organized a National Webinar on “Implications of Covid-19: Reimagining society” on June 6th

The Faculties of Social Sciences conducted annual college Literary Quiz Competition on general knowledge on January 9th
Group discussion on prime minister modi’s visit to israel: India’s role in International Relations with b.a iii year students on 5th july 2017.

The Department of Political Science conducted the assembly on April 2nd Students gave an awareness on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the duty of civilians to use their franchise in this largest democracy.
Assembly proceedings were taken up by the department of political science on July 18, 2017. Students spoke on two important events:- Malala day and Nelson Mandela day.

The Department of Political Science has organized a documentary session for the BA students on “ANNIHILATION OF CASTE SYSTEM BY DR.B.R. AMBEDKAR.” on 12 March 2020.

“Career counseling” was conducted for social sciences students by Dr. P. Aruna Reddy, Retired Professor, Kasturba Gandhi Degree & PG College for Women on 15th April 2019.
An awareness programme conducted on “ GENDER SENSATISATION” by IQAC in collaboration with the Departments of Political Science and Public Administration on 24th and 25th JANUARY 2019.

The Social Sciences club organised the Social Sciences Fest in the month of September 2018 which included poster presentation, subject corners and art gallery.
