Recognising the importance of learning a foreign language to enhance the job prospects of students in this globalised world, the college included FRENCH as one of the second languages offered right from the time of its foundation in 1973.
Over the years the department has proudly made students proficient in the language, and a lot many of them have come back and expressed their desire to pursue a higher course in French as they have recognised that the knowledge of a foreign language is an added advantage not only in getting the job but also in getting better remuneration. The knowledge of French helps in learning other European languages and to study or work in Europe, Africa and Canada. Due to the many benefits accruing to the students on learning French many students are attracted towards learning it as it adds value to their Curriculum Vitae when they seek jobs specially applying for Multi National Companies.

The department organizes street plays to spread awareness about Environment
Conducting Assemblies to disseminate information about Contemporary France.
The department also conduct Inter-departmental activities with History, sociology, activities on ‘THE FRENCH REVOLUTION’, where documentary is shown and the students then give presentations on different aspects of the REVOLUTION.
The department invited Mme. Bérengère Moindroit, from France , who informed the students from all the colleges of the city, about higher educational and professional prospects in France.
